Frame Communications Lowers The Cost Of 10G Metro Ethernet Testing

3

Frame Communications Ltd. has introduced the VeEX MX300, the smallest and most cost effective test solution for those installing and maintaining 10G Metro and Carrier Ethernet services and equipment. With the choice of 10G Ethernet test equipment currently restricted to solutions more ideally suited to R&D labs, the MX300 is a welcome addition to the market.

"Just at the time when 10G Ethernet is starting to gain traction in the market our customers are facing a reduction in their capital and operational expenditure budgets driven by the credit crunch and global recession", said Mark Perkins Managing Director of Frame Communications.

Increasing requirements for bandwidth fuelled by new media applications and growth of broadband services is driving the need to increase capacity requirements within both the carrier and enterprise space.

"The MX300 is ideal for those organisations looking to ensure the quality and reliability of 10G and 1G Ethernet, it provides users with the functionality and capability found in larger and more expensive test equipment but with a significantly lower cost of ownership; all within a small battery powered package with colour touch screen", Perkins added.

Offering a complete test solution for Metro Ethernet network installation and maintenance the MX300 offers powerful features such as symmetrical and asymmetrical RFC2544 conformance testing, multiple independent stream generation, Stacked VLAN (Q-in-Q), MPLS tagging, and Dual Port Traffic Generation/Analysis.

The product is available in a number of different test interface option configurations including; 10GBase-R, 1000Base-X and 10/100/1000Base-T, Fibre Channel testing at 1Gbps and 2Gbps rates is supported on selected models. Prices start at around £15,000 for a MX300 with 10G Ethernet test capability, a 1G Ethernet version is also available for those who wish to upgrade to 10G at a later date.
